How Animalz Ran a Head-to-Head and Found Quill Wins on Every Quality Dimension

Animalz is one of the most respected content marketing agencies in B2B SaaS, working with brands like Spotify, Rilla, and Atlassian to produce high-quality content at scale.
Their team is among the first to build with AirOps Quill: and they didn't just adopt it. They tested it head-to-head against their existing Workflows to see which produced better output.
The answer was decisive. For an agency whose reputation depends on quality across every client engagement, that kind of rigor is exactly how the shift to agentic marketing should be evaluated.
Playbooks across multiple clients and their own brand
Animalz is building Playbooks for both client work and internal content. They've already stood up several:
- A Refresh Brief + Content Writer pair that takes a blog URL, diagnoses its strategic role, recommends a refresh approach, and produces a draft plus a structured claims ledger.
- A Writer Playbook for a client that turns content briefs into drafts with first-party-verified pricing and product claims.

The claims ledger is worth calling out. Animalz instructs the agent to maintain a CSV that logs every source it consults, including links and whether each is a primary source. "It creates a handy reference file for us humans," Tim said. "But we also find it forces the agent to pay more attention to the sources it consults and includes."
That checkpoint pattern is key: Quill handles the research and drafting autonomously, but pauses for human review on source verification and claims before anything ships.

Head-to-head: Playbook vs. Workflow on the same brief
In late April, Animalz ran a direct comparison between an autonomous Playbook and their equivalent Workflow on the same content brief. The Playbook won on every dimension they measure: brand-kit compliance, factual verification, structural fidelity to the content type, and more.

The most concrete finding: the Playbook autonomously fetched first-party vendor pricing pages mid-reasoning and corrected 10 stale claims across three drafts in a comparison/alternatives content space. The Workflow, given the same keywords, defaulted to generic "check the vendor's website" prose without ever actually fetching.
On the client side, the results showed up in review cycles. A content lead approved three Playbook-produced drafts in a single review pass. Equivalent Workflow drafts had been bouncing through multiple revision cycles to reach the same bar.
