From Curiosity to Career: How Cynthia Odenu-Odenu Turned AI Experimentation Into a Content Engineering Practice

Cynthia started experimenting with AI out of curiosity, then realized the work she'd been doing already had a name. Now she builds the systems that keep strategy connected to execution, so content actually drives business growth.
Q: Introduce yourself! What do you do for work?
I'm a content marketer and Content Engineer who helps brands create content that's strategic, useful, and built to support business growth.
Q: What led you to Content Engineering?
I started with writing, but over time I became more curious about the bigger picture: strategy, audience behavior, distribution, and what makes content actually work. That curiosity eventually led me into content marketing and now Content Engineering.

I first started experimenting with AI out of curiosity and wanted to see if it actually worked beyond all the hype online. Somewhere along the line, I realized the kind of work I had been doing actually had a name, which made me look at Content Engineering differently. It also made me realize that behind the workflows and automation, there's still a lot of strategy and human thinking involved.
Q: How do you define Content Engineering?
Content Engineering is about building the systems behind content so strategy doesn't get lost in execution. It helps create a more structured and repeatable way to produce content well.

Q: Tell us about your biggest win with Content Engineering so far.
One of my biggest wins has been seeing something I started out of curiosity open real doors for me. It has also made me a more strategic thinker because I now pay a lot more attention to systems, process, and the reasoning behind the work.

Q: How did AirOps University change how you approach your work?
The Cohort made me think more deeply about what happens before the final output, from the inputs and structure to the systems behind it. It changed the way I think about content by pushing me to connect strategy more closely with execution.

Q: What are you most excited about in the future of marketing?
I'm excited about a future where AI handles more of the repetitive work so marketers can focus more on strategy, creativity, and better decision-making.
Q: What advice would you give someone just getting started with Content Engineering?
Don't go into it thinking the tools are the whole job. You still need to know what should be automated, what shouldn't, and what good output is supposed to look like.
